Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, reviewed the epidemiological situation and evolution of the new Corona virus in Egypt compared to countries in the world, one year after the pandemic in the world.
This occurred during a press conference that the minister held on Wednesday at the Princess Fatima Academy of Professional Medical Education, in the presence of ministry leaders and the head of the scientific committee to combat the emerging coronavirus.
The minister announced that according to the World Health Organization, week 51 of the pandemic witnessed the highest rate of injuries worldwide, with injuries that exceeded 5 million during a week in the world, noting that the months of December, January and February of each year see an increase in the appearance of respiratory diseases and an increase in the rates. The minister indicated that the curve of injuries in Egypt began to climb since last October 31, and the current week is the most climbing, noting that the governorate of Cairo ranks first in the number of injured, followed by Alexandria, Qalyubia and Giza, calling on the citizens of those governorates to adhere to By following all preventive and precautionary measures, also called on businessmen, both in the public and private interest, to implement preventive measures throughout the republic.
The minister added that the age group over 50 accounts for 55% of injuries, and the injuries of the age groups 35 to 50 years have increased to high injury rates, in addition to the age groups 15 to 35 years account for 25% of injuries, he added. That despite the increase in the number of infections, they are considered minor injuries compared to the first wave, adding that 19 isolation hospitals were assigned at the beginning of the pandemic, and then the hospitals that provide Corona virus services gradually increased to 101, then 111 and 150 hospitals, until reaching 363 hospitals. At the national level to manage the coronavirus pandemic and provide medical services to citizens during the pandemic.
The minister added that these hospitals contain 35,000 beds, 4,500 care beds and 2,500 ventilators, noting that the hospitals have another 200 ventilators, and that there is an isolation hospital in each province to cover all neighborhoods and provide medical services to facilitate and warn citizens.
