The British daily “Daily Mail” said that David Cotet, the video assistant referee (VAR) of the Liverpool-Everton match that brought them together in the English Premier League, “forgot the list” under which Toveez’s goalkeeper Jordan is advertised. Pickford.
Liverpool were invited to Everton in the fifth round match of the Premier League competition, and the match ended with a positive 2-2 draw, but Liverpool defender Virgil van Dyck suffered an injury after a heavy clash with Everton’s goalkeeper Beckford. The cruciate ligament of the knee, which means that it must be absent for a period of not less than 6 months.
Beckford was the subject of much criticism following the incident, with some complaining that the referee did not announce the red card in the face of the Everton goalkeeper, but rather that Liverpool asked to verify the incident.
According to the “Daily Mail” in its report published on Tuesday, Cotet, who was in charge of the “VAR”, did not verify the incident optimally and relied on Van Dyck’s fall into the intrusion trap.
He also noted that Kotet “forgot the rule” that stipulates that he can review the incident and decide the punishment despite the existence of a case of infiltration.
What was reported by “The Daily Mail” denies what Mike Riley, president of PGMOL (the authority responsible for referees in English football matches) did a few days ago, in which he claimed that the match referee reviewed the shot and considered that Pickford did not deserve an expulsion.
It is worth noting that Liverpool, the holder of the Premier League, is currently in third place in the table after accumulating 10 points in 5 rounds.
