The Portuguese Football Association announced on Tuesday night that Cristiano Ronaldo was infected with the new Corona virus “Covid-19” and was absent from his country’s game against Sweden in the European League of Nations.
Ronaldo appeared in two matches for his country in a week against Spain and France, but is currently in isolation until he recovers from the disease.
And the Portuguese Football Association published a statement in which it said: Cristiano Ronaldo was removed from the team’s list after testing positive for the emerging corona virus, and will not be on the list that will face Sweden.
And the statement from the European champions added: The star Ronaldo does not suffer symptoms and his health is stable, and he is currently subject to quarantine until he recovers from the disease and returns to training.
The Portuguese Football Association indicated that it subjected the rest of the players who had contact with Ronaldo to medical tests on Tuesday, all negative, and that coach Fernando Santos will be able to count on them in Wednesday’s game.
Ronaldo is considered the last person to be infected with the rapidly spreading virus after a group of players, including Paulo Dybala, his Argentine colleague at Juventus, Frenchman Paul Pogba, Manchester United player Thiago Alcantara, the Liverpool midfielder and his Senegalese colleague Sadio Mane, as well as Brazilian Neymar and French defender Samuel Umtiti and others.
