Cristiano Ronaldo infected with the Corona virus

AFP

The Portuguese Football Association announced Tuesday that its star and first scorer Cristiano Ronaldo has been infected with the Corona virus.

The federation added, in a statement posted on its website, that the 35-year-old Juventus striker will miss Sweden’s European Nations League match on Wednesday, but confirmed that the player is “fine” and has not shown no symptoms and has undergone self-isolation.

The Portuguese federation indicated that it subjected the rest of the players who had contact with Ronaldo to medical tests on Tuesday, all of which were negative, and Fernando Santos will be able to count on them in the Swedish game.

Ronaldo is considered the last person to be infected with the fast-spreading virus after a group of players, notably Argentine Paulo Dybala, his colleague at Juventus, Frenchman Paul Pogba, Manchester United player, Brazilian Neymar, the star from Paris Saint-Germain, and the duo of Liverpool, the Spanish Thiago Alcantar and the Senegalese Sadio Mane.

Ronaldo was a key player in Portugal’s last two games against Spain (0-0) and France (0-0).
