The president of Madagascar claimed earlier this year to have developed an effective drink to counter the coronavirus.

The World Health Organization has approved rules for testing African herbal remedies for the COVID-19 disease caused by the coronavirus.

This step occurs when the number of people infected with the virus worldwide exceeded 30 million, and the number of people who died as a result of the infection 953 thousand.

Around 140 potential Covid-19 vaccines are undergoing testing worldwide, of which dozens have already reached the stage of clinical trials in humans.

In conjunction with these efforts, the regional branch of the World Health Organization in Brazzaville issued a statement approving the rules for testing some medicinal plants.

The statement said that any conventional medicine that is safe and effective in treating the disease can be made quickly.

The agency added that the only criteria for the safety and efficacy of conventional treatments are rigorous scientific evidence.

The move comes months after Madagascar President Andre Rajoelina promoted a herbal drink that he said would eliminate the Corona virus.

This drink contains the wormwood plant, which has proven effective in treating malaria.
