“Corona won’t affect a person more than once, most likely” … a surprise sparked by recent studies

Scientists and doctors disagreed on the extent of acquired immunity of those recovering from the emerging corona virus against the return of the virus infection again.

In this context, two recent studies revealed, according to the “Associated Press” news agency, that antibodies that form in the bodies of recovered people make them less likely to be infected with the virus a second time.

One such study was conducted by researchers at the American National Institute, on more than 3 million people who underwent antibody tests, and only 0.3% of them were found to be infected again.

Dr. “Ned Sharbles”, director of the institute, confirmed that it is very rare to be infected more than once, noting that people who have antibodies to a natural infection have a much lower risk of contracting the disease again.

The other study, conducted by researchers at the University of Oxford in Great Britain, showed that out of 1,265 people who had antibodies, only two became infected again within the next six months and showed no symptoms.

The researchers noted that the antibodies that form in the bodies of the recovered do the same job as vaccines developed to prevent corona, which stimulate the immune system to produce antibodies to eliminate the virus.

It should be noted that Corona has so far infected more than 78.69 people worldwide, and the number of deaths has reached one million and 731 528, since the Corona pandemic appeared in December 2019 in China.
