Liverpool striker Sadio Mane is in quarantine after it was discovered that he was infected with the Corona virus, which causes Covid-19 disease.
This comes three days after the English club announced that midfielder Thiago Alcantara was infected with the virus.
Liverpool said the Senegalese winger “showed mild symptoms of virus infection, but feels he is in good general health.”
The 28-year-old Mane took part in the game against Arsenal on Monday, which ended in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory. But he was not part of the team that faced Arsenal in the League Cup match on Thursday, which ended with the latter winning on penalties.
“As with Thiago Alcantara, Liverpool is following, and will continue to comply with, the protocols for Covid-19, and Mane will be subject to quarantine for the required period,” Liverpool said in a statement on its website.
Mane, who scored three goals for his team since the start of the season, will miss Liverpool’s game against Aston Villa next Sunday in the Premier League, before the tournament was suspended to make way for international competitions. .
