Covid-19 is more common among people close to US President Donald Trump, as White House adviser Stephen Miller and a senior military official were affected by the epidemic.
Miller, who has been isolating himself for days, confirmed that he had contracted the Corona virus on Tuesday.
US General Mark Milley and other military commanders are also under quarantine after Rear Admiral Charles Ray, a Coast Guard officer, tested positive.
Other officials are isolating themselves “out of extreme caution.”
Admiral Ray, deputy commander of the United States Coast Guard, is said to have mild symptoms.
The Pentagon said that while officials who attended meetings with Admiral Ray last week are now subject to quarantine, none of them have developed symptoms or tested positive so far.
It is not known how Admiral Ray contracted the virus.
The admiral attended an event at the White House about 10 days ago, but it is unclear whether he contracted the virus there or elsewhere, according to news reports.
President Trump and other White House officials have contracted the coronavirus in recent days.
The Coast Guard said in a statement that Admiral Ray tested positive Monday and is now isolated at his home.
He added that any Coast Guard personnel who had close contact with him would also be subject to quarantine.
And CBS News, a partner at the BBC, reported that nearly all members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a body made up of senior military officials who advise the US president, were in quarantine after attending meetings with Admiral Ray last week. .
In addition to the Joint Chief of Staff, General Milly, others are said to be in quarantine, including the Deputy Chief of Staff, Army Chief of Staff, Chief of Naval Operations, Air Force Chief of Staff, Commander of Cybercom, Commander of the Space Force, Commander of the National Guard and Deputy Commander of the Marine Corps.
“There have been no changes in the operational readiness or mission capability of the US military,” Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman told reporters.
“Senior military commanders can continue to fully perform their functions and duties from an alternative location,” he added.
The Pentagon is tracking people in contact with those infected at meetings last week.
Cases are increasing in the White House
Since Trump tested positive last week, several high-ranking Republicans and others close to him have been confirmed to have the virus.
This includes first lady Melania Trump, aide to President Hop Hicks, and several Republican senators.
Press secretary Kylie McNani tested positive, announced her diagnosis on Monday, and three other members of the press office, Chad Gilmartin, Caroline Levitt and Galen Drummond, tested positive Tuesday.
Ms. McNani is seen speaking to journalists without a mask on Sunday. But she said the White House Medical Unit did not list any members of the press as close contacts.
Several people from Trump’s inner circle who tested positive attended a meeting in the White House’s Rose Garden on Sept. 26, which was scrutinized as a “super-public event” for the virus.
There is another Corona virus case that emerged from this event, as the president revealed to his US Supreme Court nominee that it is for a Christian minister from California.
The Rev. Greg Lowry, who was said to have mild symptoms, was with the Vice President of the United States, Mike Pence, that same day at a prayer rally in downtown Washington, DC.
A glass will be used to separate Vice President Mike Pence from his Democratic rival Kamala Harris and reduce the risk of transmission of the Covid 19 virus, when they meet for a debate in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Wednesday.
And recent tests by Pence and Harris showed that they were not infected with the virus.
Trump returned to the White House on Monday after being hospitalized due to the virus.
While at Walter Reed Medical Center, he was treated with dexamethasone, a steroid drug commonly administered in acute and severe COVID-19 cases, and supplemental oxygen.
