Corona, Salah is 625 days away from the Egyptian team

The Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s English star, caught the Corona virus, in his absence from the two clashes with Togo today, Saturday and next Tuesday, in the third and fourth rounds of the qualifying rounds of the African Cup of Nations, which will be played in Cameroon in early 2022.

The Egyptian Football Association confirmed, in an official statement on Friday, that Salah was infected with the Corona virus after performing his second medical swab during his presence in the camp of the national team, and the result was positive on two occasions, to confirm his absence from the confrontation with two countries back and forth.

The Liverpool star played his last game with the Egyptian team on July 6, 2019, when the pharaohs said goodbye to the 2019 African Cup of Nations, which was played in Egypt from round 16 against South Africa with a clean goal, and not competed after no international confrontation.

Salah joined the field of the national team last November, but did not participate in training because of the injury that prevented him from facing Egypt against Kenya and Comoros in the first and second rounds of the African Nations Qualifiers, which ended in a draw.

Thus, the absence of Mohamed Salah from facing Togo for the Crown will make him stay away from the Egyptian team for a period of more than one year and eight months, specifically 625 days, especially since the next international agenda will be during the period from 22 to March 2021.

Four months later, the national team will compete in the fifth and sixth rounds of the African Nations Qualifiers, where they will face Kenya outside Egypt before hosting Comoros at the conclusion of qualifiers to determine the Group’s first and second place winners. Seven.

The Egyptian team, which holds the record for winning African nations with seven titles, are seeking their first victory in the African Nations Qualifiers after drawing with Kenya and Comoros in the first two rounds, to take third place in the Group Seven standings.

The team was counting on Salah to score his first three qualifying points and return to the top of the group, at a time when the 28-year-old was seeking personal achievement in his first appearance under the leadership of manager Hossam Al. -Badri.

The record that Mohamed Salah seeks to reach next March in the clashes of Kenya and Comoros in the last two rounds of the qualifying phase will be postponed, as a goal separates him from the historic runner-up in the list of top scorers of the team throughout history.

Salah currently ranks third on Egypt’s list of top scorers throughout history with 41 goals, one goal behind Hassan El Shazly (42 goals), on the throne-sitting list of legend Hossam Hassan, the record holder with 69 goals.
