French Patrice Carteron, former coach of Zamalek and Al-Ahly Club, had an interview with the French magazine “France Football” to talk about the African final.
Carteron left Zamalek two months ago after leading the white team to the semifinals of continental competition, where he preferred to continue his training career with Saudi cooperation.
“Cairo is the center of Egypt. There are many clubs, but the most important are really Al-Ahly and Zamalek, in terms of fame and number of fans,” Carteron said.
Regarding the differences between them, because he trained in both teams, he said: “They are two different entities; We clearly notice this with my personalities Mortada Mansour in Zamalek and Mahmoud Al-Khatib in Al-Ahly. I am happy to have had wonderful moments with both of them, because there is passion in both clubs ”.
He continued: “Al-Ahly is a European-style club, while Zamalek has Mortada Mansour, who does not create stability in Zamalek.”
He added: “Something of a miracle is that Zamalek is able to perform well in such a difficult environment, with Mortada Mansour, Al-Ahly became the Egyptian League champion, and had a wonderful season, while Zamalek won the Confederacy, the African Super Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup “.
