The Media Center of the Council of Ministers said that it contacted the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energies, to learn the truth about what circulated about the intention of the ministry to sell and export electricity to European countries at a subsidized price lower than local price.
The center added that the ministry denied these reports, emphasizing that it is not true that Egypt exports electricity to European countries at a subsidized price lower than the local price, explaining that there is no electricity connection between Egypt and any European country so far, indicating that Egypt’s electricity export abroad comes as a result of having a reserve. A huge amount of energy of all kinds, be it gas, electricity or renewable energy, which contributes to increasing national income and making Egypt an attractive market for investment in the energy field.
In a related context, studies are being carried out for the electrical interconnection project between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece, which will be carried out using submarine cables of 500 kilovolts of voltage in a DC system and the capacity of the line will exceed 2000 megawatts, and The project is one of the projects that help connect Egypt to the European electricity grid. And turn Egypt into an energy center and a carrier of electricity on the European continent.
The Center called on various media and social media users to investigate the accuracy and objectivity in the publication of news and to communicate with the competent authorities to make sure before publishing information that is not based on any fact and generates confusion among public opinion.
