The spokesman for the Libyan Armed Forces, Ahmed Al-Mismari, confirmed today, Sunday, in statements to Al-Arabiya that the Libyan army is committed to the ceasefire agreement.
Al-Mismari said the State Council’s statement for the Accord carries an implicit rejection of the ceasefire, noting that the Geneva Accord is clear on the issue of the departure of the Turks and mercenaries from Libya.
The Libyan army spokesman added that the United Nations supports the departure of foreign and Turkish fighters from Libya, and the United Nations knows that the Brotherhood team in Al-Wefaq rejects a peaceful solution.
The pro-deal Libya Al-Ahrar channel reported on Twitter, citing a statement from the State Council, that the council welcomes the ceasefire agreement, the return of domestic flights and the lifting of force majeure from the oil fields. and ports.
Agreements with Turkey
The State Council said that the agreement does not include the reconciliation agreements concluded by the government with Turkey.
The council added that the agreement does not signify recognition of “the legitimacy of the aggressor force” and questions the intentions of the other party and its ability to comply with its provisions.
Punish those who obstruct the truce
The United Nations representative, Stephanie Williams, revealed through the organization’s official website the intention of the UN Security Council to sanction all those who obstruct the truce.
Williams announced the start of political consultations between the Libyan parties on Monday, noting that the direct meeting will take place on November 9 in the Tunisian capital.
The ceasefire agreement signed between the two parties to the conflict in Libya last Friday at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, was met with regional and international praise, with the exception of Turkey, which downplayed its importance and questioned its viability and credibility, to an extent that observers interpreted as reflecting Turkey’s annoyance. It is clear from the agreement that it will produce a new map in Libya that conflicts with Turkish plans and interests there.
