Ketabi Al-Hussein, official spokesman for the Moroccan club Nahdet Berkane, said that the reason for the adhesion of his club’s management to the African Super Cup in Qatar is the agreement between the CAF and the Qatar Football Association.

Al-Ahly will face their Moroccan counterpart Nahdet Berkane in this month’s Africa Super Match, after team Al-Qalaa Al-Hamra won the CAF Champions League title, while Nahdet Berkane won the African Confederation Cup.

Al-Hussein added, through statements on MBC Egypt’s Al-Allaib program, that Caf signed a 3-year contract with the Qatar Football Association to play the African Super Cup there, which happened in two versions, the last of which was Zamalek and Esperance from Tunisia.

He continued: “This is the reason why we joined the Super Match there in Doha, as happened with Zamalek in the last edition.”

The Nahdet Borkan club officials had expressed their refusal to play the Super Cup in Cairo, after Al-Ahly won the African Champions League.

CAF had previously announced that the third and last version of the contract signed with the Qatar Federation will not be held in Doha and will be in Cairo.

CAF will hold a meeting of the Executive Office on the 10th of this month to discuss a series of issues, including the date of the Super Cup match between Al-Ahly and Nahdet Berkane.
