For the first time in the history of the African Champions League, the final of the tournament will be purely Egyptian, with a fierce showdown that will unite the Egyptian soccer poles Al-Ahly and Zamalek.

Al-Ahly qualified for the final of the African Champions League for the thirteenth time in their history after overcoming the obstacle of the Moroccan Wydad Casablanca by winning the first leg in Casablanca with a clean double and then winning in Cairo 3-1 to be one step away from achieving the ninth title.
As for Zamalek, they rose to the final after beating Moroccan Raja Casablanca back and forth with a total of the two games 4-1 to reach the final for the eighth time in their history and seek the sixth title.
The final match will take place for the first time in the history of the African Champions League in a single match, and will be hosted by the Egyptian Army Stadium in Burj Al Arab.
Al-Ahly faced Zamalek before in the CAF Champions League on 8 occasions, the victory went to the Red Genie 5 times, while the White Knight did not get any victory.
The first meetings of the two poles in the CAF Champions League were in the semifinals of the 2005 tournament, with Al-Ahly winning both games with a score of 2-1, scored by Emad Mutaib and Mohamed Barakat, while that Hazem Imam scored the only goal for Al-Obeid, then 2-0 with Mohammed Barakat.

In the 2012 edition, the two teams met again in the group stage. Al-Ahly won the second round match with Muhammad Abu Turkiya’s goal, and in the sixth round match, the two Egyptian soccer poles tied with one goal each, in the match that joined them on 16 September 2012, and scored for Al-Ahly Muhammad Barakat, while Muhammad scored. The last meetings of the Egyptian poles in the CAF Champions League were in the 2013 season when they met in the group stage, tied in the first meeting, and Al-Ahly and Zamalek scored the goals of Mohamed Aboutrika and Ahmed Jaafar .
In the second meeting, Al-Ahly achieved the biggest victory over Zamalek in their African Champions League matches, defeating them 4-2.
