The Swiss Football Association announced, “negative”, the sample of Shirdan Shaqiri from Liverpool, England, a few days after announcing his infection with the new Corona virus (Covid-19).

The Swiss Confederation issued an official statement last Tuesday, during which it confirmed that Shaqiri’s sample was positive for the Coronavirus, and the player was isolated.

As reported by the British newspaper “Mirror”, on Thursday there was an error in Shaqiri’s sample.

The newspaper said Shaqiri underwent a new test that confirmed the “negative” streak, which signifies his willingness to participate in matches, either with his country or with his England team.

The “Mirror” reported a report in the Swiss newspaper “Blick”, which confirmed that the result of a blood test that Corona registered “positive” for Shakeri may be due to an old infection.

For his part, “Espejo” said that the possible scenario is that the Liverpool midfielder had already been previously infected with the virus (in January or February) and that was demonstrated in the sample he was subjected to.

The Swiss Confederation said: “We have received information that the positive result of the Shakiri test may be due to a previous infection and is therefore not contagious.”

The statement added: “This result was issued after performing an additional advanced blood test to detect antibodies.”

The Swiss team will face Spain and Germany in the European Nations League championship on October 10 and 13.

Following the international break, Liverpool are scheduled to face archrival Everton (October 17) at Goodison Park in the fifth round of the Premier League championship.

It should be noted that Shaqiri was the third player in Liverpool’s ranks to be infected by the Corona virus in recent days, after Sadio Mane and Thiago Alcantara.
