Atlético de Madrid did not lose any of their six matches in the Spanish League, but suffered a severe defeat early in their continental career to Germany’s defending champion Bayern Munich with a clean-up quarter win before being offset by a difficult 3-2 win over Salzburg in the second round thanks to their duo of Portuguese star Joao Félix.
