The committee held its meeting in Riyadh on Tuesday 4/16/1442 AH, corresponding to 12/1/2020 AD The Saudi side was chaired by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the Egyptian side was chaired by His Excellency Sameh Shukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, which was preceded by meetings on The level of senior officials participated in the assistants of the foreign ministers of both sides, during which a series of political issues of common interest were discussed in preparation for the meeting with the two foreign ministers.
The two sides highlighted the importance of the specificity of the close relations between the two sister countries, as they are fundamental for the political, economic, Islamic, cultural and military stability of the region, and also take into account that the future of the region It requires strengthening joint cooperation between the two countries to support the interests of their peoples.
The two sides exchanged views on the most prominent regional and international events, as the consultations between the two sides resulted in consensus views on many issues and crises facing the region and the world.
The two sides emphasized the importance of the Palestinian issue as the central issue of the Arab nation, and emphasized that a just and comprehensive solution requires the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967 AD, with East Jerusalem. as its capital, based on the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant decisions of international legitimacy.
During the meetings, the two sides also highlighted the rejection of regional interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries and attempts to destabilize the security and stability of the region, and highlighted the importance of the Arab role and the role of the League. of the Arab States in the resolution of the crises in the region within the framework of relevant international decisions and in accordance with the principles of international law. They also expressed the importance of strengthening Joint Arab Action.
The two sides stressed the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf, the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea, and rejected any attempt to affect their freedom of navigation, as this constitutes a threat to security and regional stability.
The Saudi side affirmed its support for Egypt’s efforts to reach a binding agreement on all parties regarding the Renaissance Dam in order to preserve Egyptian water security as an integral part of Arab water security and enhance the preservation of security and peace on the African continent, through serious negotiations between the parties concerned. Being the best solution to reach an agreement that satisfies all parties, and the importance of exercising good offices during the negotiation process.
The Egyptian side expressed its solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all the measures it takes to protect its national security, and the Egyptian side affirmed its rejection of any attack on the Kingdom’s territory, highlighting that the security of the Kingdom and the Gulf region Arab is an integral part of Egyptian national security.
The two sides also emphasized the need to preserve Libya’s stability, unity and territorial integrity, rejecting foreign interference in its affairs and attempts to destabilize internal and regional conditions by supporting terrorism and extremism, and the two sides emphasized their position. in favor of reaching a comprehensive political solution in accordance with what was agreed in the Berlin process and the Cairo Declaration issued in June 2020 AD, and its support for the reconstruction of the Libyan state and its institutions.
In order to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries, they agreed on the need to eliminate obstacles that hinder the process of increasing trade and investment between them, and the two parties expressed their full satisfaction with the development of cooperation. in all fields, with the importance of continuing bilateral coordination between experts to achieve more aspects of cooperation and coordination between the two sister countries.
The repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic in the two sister countries, the region and the world, and its health, economic and social implications were also discussed, with the aim of preserving human life, protecting livelihoods and reducing the resulting damages. of this pandemic, and highlight the importance of coordinating efforts and exchanging experiences and experiences of the two countries in the implementation of the distance education system and the system.
