President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met today, Sunday, with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

The Spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic pointed out that the meeting addressed the follow-up of national projects related to the information and communication technologies sector.

The President led the promotion of the use of the latest technologies and international standards to implement projects in the information and communications technology sector and duplicate the capabilities of the country’s digital information infrastructure, as this contributes directly to transformation efforts digital, along with training human cadres in digital skills to support government performance and provide the latest digital services to citizens. And the business sector at the level of the Republic, in a way that contributes to achieving digital inclusion and consolidating the rules of the digital economy.

The Spokesperson indicated that the Minister of Communications presented during the meeting the executive position of a series of projects that the Ministry is implementing in the information and communications technology sector, which included the development of an artificial intelligence strategy to contribute to raise the level of performance of government services and expand the training of human cadres in the information and communication technologies sector in skills and efforts to manufacture school computers, in the context of the interest to strengthen the construction axis of the Egyptian human being.

During the meeting, the President was also briefed on the implementation axes of the “Digital Egypt” and “Our Digital Future” initiatives, as well as the efforts to develop the Internet infrastructure to accommodate intensive use during the current period as a result of the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, in addition to developments in increasing the efficiency of post offices, which witnessed the development of 1,600 offices at the level of the country has banking and real estate services, in addition to all the services of financial inclusion such as microfinance, consumer finance, microinsurance and digital mobile wallet.

The Communications Minister also indicated that the new administrative capital was chosen as the Digital Arab Capital for 2021 by the Council of Arab Ministers of Communications and Information. For its ultra-advanced digital and technological infrastructure, for hosting efforts to achieve digital transformation and the development of digital skills and capabilities in the country, and for hosting the Misr Information University, which is the first of its kind in the region. The National Authority for Artificial Intelligence, in addition to directing the attention of international companies to the Administrative Capital as a smart city that relies all its services and facilities on modern digital systems, adding in this context that Egypt has advanced in the world ranking in the government readiness for artificial intelligence during the current year from 111 to 56 in the world.
