The opening ceremony will witness the great writer Waheed Hamed honoring the Golden Pyramid for Lifetime Achievement Award, which is the same award that the festival gives to British writer and director Christopher Hampton, and artist Mona Zaki is honored with the Faten Hamama award. During the ceremony, the special presence of artist Ashraf Abdel-Baqi will be witnessed and a new song by singer Tamer Hosni will also be presented to the competition and award judging committees of the 42nd session led by Russian director Alexander Sokurov.
