Amr El-Ganaini, head of the five-year committee that heads the Egyptian Football Association, said the result of the second smear from Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was positive.

Al-Ganaini added, in statements on the “CBC Extra” screen on Friday night: “Mohamed Salah did not suffer any symptoms after he underwent a medical smear today, but the result was positive.”

He continued: “I believe that Mohamed Salah’s injury will not be long. He is in good spirits, but he will not leave Cairo until the test result is negative.”

Al-Ganaini revealed during his remarks: “Salah did not suffer any symptoms after he underwent a swab this morning, and then the swab was repeated again this afternoon, as per protocol, and it was confirmed that he was infected with the virus.”

He continued: “We contacted the Liverpool club immediately, informed them of the protocol and the player was isolated according to local and international protocol.”

And about his appearance in the Togo match next Tuesday, Al-Ganaini stressed at the end of his remarks that the presence of Salah would be difficult.

Mohamed Salah is scheduled to miss his country’s game against Togo, scheduled for Saturday, and then Tuesday’s game, in the third and fourth rounds of the African nations qualifiers for Cameroon.

The Egyptian Federation issued an official statement on its official Facebook page, explaining that Mohamed Salah was infected with the emerging corona virus (Covid 19) after undergoing the second swab.

The Egyptian Football Association had previously announced that Salah was infected with the Corona virus, before the statement was removed, and teams from Egypt and Togo announced three players. (See details)

It should be noted that the Egyptian team is in Group G with the trio (Comoros – Kenya – Togo), and the “Pharaohs” team is in third place with two points, three points ahead of the leader Comoros, who played three rounds, the last of which was a draw against Kenya last Wednesday with a result.
