The Sundowns coaching staff has excluded Uruguayan player Gaston Sereno from the list of the South African team currently participating in the CAF Champions League match.
The Sundowns team is currently meeting their counterpart, Botswana’s Juaneng Galaxy, at Lobatsi Stadium in the first leg of the 32nd round of the Champions League.
According to the official formation announced by Sundowns for the match through their official account on the social network “Twitter”, Sereno was not in the formation of the main team nor was he on the bench.
Sereno is one of Al-Ahly’s targets during the upcoming winter transfer period, as the Al-Qaa Al-Hamra administration attempted to sign the player during the last Mercato period of the summer, but material issues between the two parties hampered the deal.
Abdel Hafeez indicated in previous press releases that the player remains within the interests of the coaching staff of the red team under the leadership of Pitso Mosimane, highlighting that the player should not participate in the African Champions League with his team so as not to hinder the treatment.
It should be noted that the regulations of the African Football Confederation (CAF) do not allow the participation of a player with two teams in African championships.
