Mohamed Morjane, executive director of the Al-Ahly club, announced that his club had submitted an official request to celebrate the Moroccan match Wydad Casablanca in the second leg of the semi-final of the African Champions League at the “Cairo Stadium” in place of the “Burj Al Arab”.
Morgan added in statements via “Yallakora” on Wednesday that his club had already obtained the approval of the Egyptian Football Association, together with the security authorities, to celebrate the second leg at the “Cairo Stadium”.
During his remarks, Morjane pointed out that the Al-Ahly administration is waiting for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to respond “sufficiently” to the request to transfer the party.
A source from the African Football Confederation (CAF) also indicated that CAF agreed to host a Wydad match at the Cairo Stadium.
Al-Ahly had played the Sundowns game in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the African Champions League competition at the “Cairo Stadium” in a match that saw Tunisian international Ali Maaloul record the two goals of the match.
Al-Ahly made it through to the Round of Four by beating Sundowns (3-1) on aggregate, back and forth.
Al-Ahly will face Moroccan Wydad Casablanca at the “Mohammed V” stadium next Saturday, while the return leg will be played on the 24th of this month.
It should be noted that the second match of the semifinal of the African Champions League competition will bring together the pair Zamalek and the Moroccan Raja Casablanca.
