Al-Ahly defies absences and surprises of the cup against arsenal

Al-Ahly faces the Tarsana team tonight, Wednesday, in the round of 16 competitions of the 2019/2020 Egypt Cup at the “Al-Ahly We Peace” stadium at 8:00 pm.

After winning the Egyptian League championship for the 42nd time in their history, Al-Ahly are looking to regain the Egyptian Cup title, which was absent from their coffers in the last two seasons, to reinforce their record of 36 crowned times.

In the absence of the goalkeeping pair Mohamed El-Shennawi and Ali Lotfi, young goalkeeper Mostafa Schubert is the closest to participating in arsenal.

On the other hand, the arsenal, led by its coach Shaker Abdel Fattah, is not living its best moment, after being threatened with the relegation of the second division, where Al Shawakish occupies the penultimate place of the second group despite the succession of coaches to lead the team.

The last confrontation between Al-Ahly and Al-Arsenal was two years ago, when the two teams met in round 32 of the last edition of the 2018/2019 Egypt Cup on October 10, 2018, which ended with victory of the Red Genie (3-2).

Referee Ahmed Jamal will handle tonight’s clash between Al-Ahly and Arsenal, and Mahmoud Abdel Sami and Khaled Ramadan will assist him, and Mohamed Mahmoud Abdullah is the fourth official.

The Football Association succeeded in obtaining official approvals and approvals regarding the application of video technology in the Egypt Cup, and the binary referee committee chose Mohamed Abbas Kabil and Sabri Ibrahim as the video referee and assistant referee at the meeting of Al-Ahly and Arsenal.
