Today Saturday, Ethiopian Minister of Irrigation and Energy, Celechi Bekele, revealed the potential date for energy production from the Grand Renaissance dam.
Bekele said, according to Sky News Arabia, on Saturday, that Ethiopia is making efforts to start producing power from the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam next August, following the “success” of the second filling process that is being prepared.
On Saturday, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed launched a project to use cloud seeding technology to generate rain.
In his speech on the occasion of the official launch of the project, Abi Ahmed said that his country cannot build more dams without using cloud seeding technology, or what is known as “cloud seeding”.
The statement by Ethiopia’s Minister of Water comes as the parties to the Renaissance dam crisis return to the negotiating table through a new round organized by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, currently chairing the African Union.
The meetings will begin in their first phase, on Saturday, between Sudan, Egypt and Ethiopia, at the level of technical committees.
The talks begin at the level of the foreign and irrigation ministers of the three countries on Sunday.
