Josep Maria Bartomeu’s crisis with Barcelona ended and his resignation as president of the club, the interim council that will lead the club for a period of 3 months, chaired by Carles Tosquets, was announced today.
Barcelona was preparing a vote to withdraw trust in Bartomeu, after the adversaries (including some candidates for the club’s presidential elections scheduled for March 20, 2021) collected more than 16,521 signatures necessary from the partners for the withdrawal of the trust the former president of the Catalan club.
The date of the referendum on the removal of Bartomeu was scheduled for the weekend of November 15 and 16, but the opponents wanted to organize this referendum on November 1 and 2, which is the deadline set according to the club’s statutes .
But Bartomeu announced yesterday that he would resign after six years in the direction of the Catalan club, with some successes and many failures.
Barcelona announced the Board of Directors, which will temporarily manage the club until the announcement of the club’s elections, no later than 3 months.
