Italy registered an abrupt jump in deaths from the emerging Corona virus on Saturday, as this number increased by 474 cases, compared to 269 in a statistic on Friday.
The head of the Civil Defense Authority, Angelo Borelli, said on Saturday that the general number of deaths registered by the new Corona virus has increased in the last 24 hours in 474 new cases, and has reached the level of 28710.
This figure represents the largest increase in deaths from the Corona virus in Italy since April 21, and comes in a significant increase for this daily rate compared to the previous days, where in the country 323 cases were registered on April 29 , and on April 30, 285 and May 1, 269.
The sharp rise that occurred on Saturday is due to a significant increase in deaths recorded in the Lombardy region in the north of the country, where 329 new cases were detected, compared to 88 in a statistic on Friday.
Borelli said the number of new infections is relatively stable, with 1,900 cases registered, compared to Friday 1965 and Thursday 1872, and the total number so far has reached 209,328.
However, he pointed out that the number of active cases decreased during the last 24 hours from 100943 to 100704, highlighting the continuous decrease in the number of patients in intensive care rooms from 1578 to 1539.
It also reported an increase in the number of people who recovered from the disease from 78,249 to 79,914 people, while the result of the tests carried out reached 1.43 million.
Italy is the second country in the world in terms of number of deaths resulting from infection with the new virus “COVID-19” and third in terms of number of infections.
