Books – Ahmed Massad:
Dr. Alaa Al-Zawahiri, a member of the technical committee for the Renaissance Dam negotiations, revealed the map of the next stage of the Renaissance Dam negotiations between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan after no agreement was reached during the meeting of the irrigation ministers of the three countries.
Al-Zawahiri told Masrawy today, Thursday, that each country will present its report to the African Union, and there will certainly be contacts from the Union of the three countries to discuss how to complete this negotiating track.
A member of the technical committee for the dam negotiations added: “Perhaps there will be a meeting of the irrigation and foreign ministers of the three countries with the African Union, to reach a specific agreement. Often, the 6 ministers will be invited to a meeting, and maybe points will be taken from each side and a new formula will be worked out. “
He continued: “The technical and legal negotiations stopped on August 28, the past period was discussing how to complete the negotiation, but it is clear that Ethiopia has no objection to completing the negotiation since it was stopped on August 28, and Sudan has a new vision in the mechanism to complete the negotiation on the role of experts from the African Union and international observers from the European Union and the United States of America.
And he added, “Ethiopia agrees with Egypt to complete the negotiations according to the August 28 meeting, which is rejected by Sudan, and Sudan and Ethiopia agree to the participation of experts from the African Union in the tripartite sessions, which is rejected by Egypt.” .
The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation announced, in a statement last night, the end of the meetings of the irrigation ministers of the three countries, which were held over a period of 3 continuous days under the auspices of the Union Africana without reaching an agreement on the mechanism to complete the negotiations.
