The Presidency of the Council of Ministers, represented by the Information and Decision Support Center, has announced a decrease in death rates in Egypt despite the spread of the new Corona virus “Covid-19”.

The center, in an information report, “Infograph”, issued on Sunday, said that death rates during the month of April reached 42,144 deaths, compared to 43,330 cases in April 2019 and 43,399 cases in April 2018.

The infographic indicated that the spread of the pandemic did not affect the number of deaths nationwide, as the number of deaths in Egypt during April 2020 reached approximately 42.1 thousand cases compared to approximately 43.3 thousand deaths during the same month in 2019, that is, the number of deaths decreased by approximately 2.8%, which is This denies the increase in deaths due to the spread of the Corona virus.

He added: “Despite the increase in cases of coronavirus infection in Egypt during the recent period, the number of deaths from the virus is still within safe borders compared to countries in the world.”

The infographic showed that although the spread of the Corona virus in Cairo governorate was significant, the number of deaths during April 2020 (the peak of the spread of the Corona virus) has decreased compared to April 2019 by approximately 7.3 %.

He added: “At the government level, the number of deaths did not witness a significant change, as 17 provinces witnessed a decrease in the number of deaths during the month of April, compared to April 2019, including El Cairo, Dakahlia, Assiut and Damietta.

The Information Center based its estimates on the health affairs directorates in the provinces and the automation system for births and deaths.
