Ayman Abdel Aziz, the former coach of Zamalek, emphasized that despite his long career in the world of professionalism in the Turkish league, he earned the honor of being on the Egyptian team continuously.
Abdel Aziz told On Time Sports that during Hassan Shehata’s tenure as coach of the Egyptian team between 2006 and 2010 it was not up to him, despite his brilliance in Turkey and playing in the European Championship more than once.
He added: “I gained Turkish citizenship with a team there due to the club’s desire to sign me as a citizen player to allow them to bring another foreign player onto the roster, and this has made some in Egypt feel like I am evading recruitment by obtaining another nationality “
He explained that the reason for his departure from the Egyptian team was due to the crisis of obtaining Turkish citizenship, despite the fact that he arrived in Egypt and performed military service after renouncing Turkish citizenship.
He indicated that he regretted his return to Egypt and left the professionalism of being with Zamalek, after he came close to moving to the Turkish Besiktas team.
He confirmed that he asked Mamdouh Abbas, the former president of Zamalek, to do without half of the team’s players and bring in other players to agree to sign for the club at the time.
He continued: “I’m back from professionalism and I’m 32 years old. I wanted to play in Egypt until Egyptian fans saw my true potential.”
He concluded: “I informed Mamdouh Abbas of the need to change multiple players. The team has been out of tournaments for more than 7 years, and the players were like the dead, and their psychological state is bad in that period.”
