Sayed Abdel Hafeez, football director of the Al-Ahly club, responded to the statements of Mohamed Fadl, member of the Five-Year Committee of the Football Association, about the presentation of a memorandum to the Disciplinary Committee to sanction the Al-Ahly player by electrocution, for what he did during the club’s championship celebrations.

“I was hoping not to speak on this matter, and yesterday we spoke and emphasized respect for the system,” Abdel Hafeez told Sada Al-Balad.

He added, asking: “What do we expect from the Al-Ahly administration? To punish a player for an act or thing he did not do! And what will be presented before the Disciplinary Committee?”

He continued: “What will be shown to the Disciplinary Committee will be a celebratory tape or a quote from the words of those who attended the incident.”

He continued: “The issue was in the context of a celebration. Mahmoud Al-Khatib would not have waited to punish Kahraba if he thought he was wrong.”

He explained: “In short, the referee is not always right. It is impossible to impose a penalty, even by one pound, on a player who did not make a mistake to satisfy a referee.”

He concluded that he spoke to the player and fully explained the situation. He did not find that Kahraba harmed Muhammad Fadl, as the latter claimed, and the Al-Ahly player could not be held responsible for an act he did not commit.
