A new pessimistic statement for “World Health”: The world needs 5 years to control “Corona”

Indian scientist Sumaya Swaminathan, a leading scientist at the World Health Organization, warned that the world may need a period of time ranging from 4 to 5 years to control the “Corona” epidemic.

Swaminathan, a pediatrician, said the deciding factors for the long-term defeat of “Covid 19” include the development of the virus and preventive measures, and most importantly, the development of a vaccine, according to Sky News Arabia.

Swaminathan considered that “the vaccine now seems to be the best way” to get out of the crisis, but pointed out the existence of obstacles related to its effectiveness and safety, in his comments to the British newspaper “Financial Times”.

And I continued: “I say that in 4 or 5 years we can control this epidemic.”

Another WHO official had previously said the virus could become endemic, like the HIV virus that causes AIDS, doubting any attempt to predict when it will continue to spread.

Mike Ryan, Executive Director of the WHO Emergency Program, said at an online press conference: “It is important that we pronounce these words … this virus can become another endemic virus in our societies, this virus will never disappear.”

He added: “I think it is necessary to be realistic, and I cannot imagine that anyone can predict when this disease will disappear.” I don’t see any promises in this regard or dates. This disease may become a long-term problem, and may not be.

However, Ryan said the world had gained some control over how it dealt with the disease, but that it would require “enormous efforts” even if a vaccine were reached, which he described as “a major achievement.”

More than 100 potential vaccines are being developed, many of them in clinical trials, but experts have confirmed the difficulty of finding effective vaccines against the emerging coronavirus.

Ryan noted that vaccines exist for other diseases, such as measles, and yet they have not been entirely phased out.
