International goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shenawy, the star of Al-Ahly’s goalkeeper, seeks to continue to keep a clean sheet against the Arab Contractors in the Premier League, setting a record unprecedented in Egyptian football history.
Al-Ahly will host team Al-Mokawloon at Cairo International Stadium at eight o’clock tonight, Sunday, in round 31 of the Egyptian Premier League competition, which was crowned the Red Genie for the 42nd time in its history.
Al-Shennawi kept his nets clean in 23 league championship games during the current 2019/2020 season, to equal the all-time record in a league season, and also registered on behalf of his former colleague Sherif Ikrami in the 2016 season. / 2017 with Al-Ahly.
If Mohamed El Shennawy scores a clean sheet in at least one of the remaining four rounds, Sherif Ekrami will break the record for the cleanest net in a season for the Egyptian Premier League with 24 matches.
Sherif Ikrami played twelve seasons in the Al-Ahly jersey, beginning from 2003 to 2005 before returning again in 2010 to crown 18 titles in the past nine seasons, but moved to the Pyramids officially in light of his tenure as a reserve for his colleague Mohamed El-Shenawy recently.
Mohamed El-Shenawy this season managed to leave a clean sheet in 23 of the 30 rounds contested by the team, beating all the guards in the league this season, knowing that Zamalek did not compete in the summit that was scheduled for last February, to announce your withdrawal.
The 31-year-old only scored in six games, as he conceded just 8 goals, to become the strongest defense in the local tournament, with one goal against Aswan, Masr, Pyramids, Samouha, El Entag El Harby and three from Zamalek.
The league champion has four games left against the Arab Contractors, Enppi, Pyramids and Tala’a Al-Jaish, giving El-Shenawi a golden opportunity to write his name in Egyptian football history, while the Egypt’s goalkeeper kept his nets clean in the last nine games in a row.
It is noteworthy that Al-Shennawi was one of the main contributors to Al-Ahly’s decision to win the league title early for the fifth season in a row and for the 42nd time in its history before the end of the season with 7 full rounds, thanks to his clean sheet preservation before becoming the clean sheet king in the tournament.
