A crisis in Barcelona: Quique Setien asks for 4 million euros

Spanish coach Quique Setien, the former Barcelona coach, demanded an amount of 4 million euros for his fees with Barcelona after he was fired as Barça coach.

Barcelona fired Quique Setien after the team’s deteriorating results and the disastrous 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Setien issued an official statement, confirming his appeal to the judiciary to obtain the rest of his quotas from Barcelona.

The former Barça coach said in his statement that the Catalan team management did not even send him a message despite the passage of a month after his dismissal and did not make any payment of his fees.

Barcelona had just sent an official letter to Kiki Setin notifying him of the dismissal, without mentioning any details of the financial settlement.

Barcelona made a management error when it announced Setien’s dismissal through the media and social media platforms, and did not inform the manager in an official speech, and instead Ronald Koeman was appointed as manager.

The Spanish radio station “Cadena Coupe” said that Koeman will not be able to sit in the coach’s seat in any official match until now, due to the failure of Quique Setién’s record.

Barcelona had paid the penalty clause in Ernesto Valverde’s contract, who was fired last December, as well as the Koeman clause from the Dutch Football Association to break his new coach’s association with the Dutch national team.
