Hawass added: “As for the Sphinx, according to Sheikh Ali Jumaa, it does not go back to before the era of Khufu and Khafra and this is a fatal mistake, because all the scientific evidence indicates that the ‘Sphinx’ dates back to the era of the King Khafra, and that his sculpture was completed to Appear in the form of Horus, worshiping the god Ra, who appears in the temple in front of the “Sphinx”, and that the ancient Egyptians had linked the power of the lion and the king, in the shape of a lion that appeared when stepping on and trampling on his enemies.
