An adviser to former US President Donald Trump announced that the latter will soon return to social networking sites with his “private platform.”
“I think we will see President Trump return to social media, probably in two or three months,” Jason Miller told Fox News.
The platform, he said, “will be the most popular among social networks” and “will completely redefine the game.”
Trump’s Twitter and Facebook accounts were frozen after a deadly riot in January at the United States Capitol building in Washington, DC.
The attack by Trump supporters on January 6 saw the murder of five people, including a police officer, in events described as shaking the foundations of American democracy.
Several days later, Twitter said that Trump’s account – realDonaldTrump @ – was “permanently suspended … due to the risk of further incitement to violence.”
Trump has used Twitter as a way, for more than 10 years, to bypass mainstream media and speak directly to voters.
Do we know which platform Trump wants to use?
Miller did not elaborate on this matter, only saying that “everyone is waiting and watching to see exactly what President Trump is doing.”
The consultant said Trump has already had “high-level meetings” with various teams about the project at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Miller added that “several companies” had already contacted the former president.
“This new platform will be great,” he said, adding that he expected Trump to attract “tens of millions of people.”
Why was Trump banned?
Trump was initially banned from using his Twitter account for 12 hours in January after he described the people who stormed the US Capitol as “patriots.”
Hundreds of his supporters entered the building just as the United States Congress was supposed to back Joe Biden’s victory in last year’s presidential election.
Twitter later warned that it would ban Trump “permanently” if he again breaks the platform’s rules.
After he was allowed to return to Twitter, Trump posted two tweets that the company referred to as the last straw.
The social media company said these two tweets “violate the glorification of violence policy.”
Trump’s Facebook accounts, popular gaming platform Twitch, and multimedia messaging app Snapchat have also been suspended.
