Brazil registered, this Wednesday, a sharp and unprecedented jump in new deaths from the emerging coronavirus, which causes the “Covid-19” infection, as this indicator exceeded 2,200 cases.
The Ministry indicated, in a daily statistic, that the number of infections registered by Coronavirus “Covid-19” in the country during the last 24 hours increased by 79,876, bringing the total number to 11,202,305 cases.
This figure represents a significant increase in the rate of new infections, which reached on March 7, 69,609 cases, on March 8, 32,321, and on March 9, 70,764 cases.
The ministry also claimed that it had detected 2,286 new deaths caused by the disease, bringing the death toll from the pandemic in the country to 270,656 people, with a fatality rate of 2.4%.
This increase represents an unprecedented number of new deaths from coronavirus in Brazil, which had previously been registered on March 7, 1555 cases, on March 8, 987 and on March 9, 1972, which was considered a previous record.
The Brazilian Ministry of Health added that the number of recoveries has reached 9913739.
Brazil recorded the second highest number of virus deaths in the world after the United States, and the third highest number of infections after the United States and India.
However, health authorities confirmed that official statistics may differ significantly from actual figures, because the tests did not include all the injured.
