Buckingham Palace said it would investigate allegations that Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, was intimidated by several of her employees, after a press report quoted royal aides as saying a complaint was filed against her in 2018.
The Times reported, citing sources who said the complaint alleged that the Duchess had removed personal assistants from her home in Kingston Palace and had undermined the trust of a third employee.
The sources also said they contacted the newspaper because they felt that the Duchess’s version that had appeared publicly was only partially true and that they were concerned about how bullying issues would be handled.
Buckingham Palace said it was “extremely concerned” by the allegations in the report, adding: “Accordingly, our Human Resources team will consider the circumstances described in the article. The staff members involved at the time, including those who have left the family, you will be invited to participate to find out “If lessons can be learned.”
The statement continued: “The royal family has had a policy of dignity at work for several years and does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace.”
For his part, Markle responded to these reports, saying that he is the victim of a smear campaign by men at the royal court.
