Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The former fiancé of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, Hatice Genghis, has commented on the release of the declassified US intelligence report on Khashoggi’s murder.
Hatice Cengiz posted a photo of Khashoggi on her Twitter account and wrote the phrase “justice for beauty.”
Earlier Friday, the long-awaited CIA report on Khashoggi’s assassination was released, saying that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had approved the arrest or murder of the Saudi journalist.
“We estimate that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman approved an operation in Istanbul, Turkey, to arrest or kill Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi,” the report’s summary reads.
The report summary added: “We based this assessment on the crown prince’s control over decision-making in the Kingdom, the direct involvement of a key adviser and members of Muhammad bin Salman’s preventive security staff in the process, and the support the crown prince to use violent measures to silence opponents abroad, including Khashoggi. “
The Biden administration presented the declassified report to Congress before it was published.
The report was commissioned by Congress. This came after US President Joe Biden and Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud spoke on Thursday.
