Julio César, the former Brazilian goalkeeper who played for Inter Milan, congratulated the Al-Ahly club on their achievement and indicated that Al-Ahly is an example for the clubs in the Egyptian League.
Al-Ahly will play for the sixth time in the FIFA Club World Cup, representing the African continent.
“It is clear that this is the sixth time that Al-Ahly has participated in the Club World Cup,” Cesar said in remarks at a press conference in Doha. “This is definitely a good thing.”
“So it is clear that Al-Ahly is a team that is always in development.”
“I think Al-Ahly is an example to emulate in Egypt in general, a good example for all the clubs that play in the Egyptian League,” he said. “What the team has achieved is definitely not a coincidence that they have qualified for the World Cup 6 times.”
He concluded: “I congratulate them for this wonderful work. They are a good example to follow.”
Al-Ahly recently lost 2-0 to European champion Bayern Munich in the semi-final, and is preparing to face South American champion Palmeiras in the match for third place on Thursday.
