A video circulating on social media, documenting underage Moroccan immigrants beaten by Spanish police, sparked anger among activists.
Moroccan media claimed that the problem is related to Moroccan illegal immigrants, who are being targeted for an unknown reason by the Spanish Guard.
Reports differed on the location of the incident, as the video was said to be in one of the lodging centers in the “Las Palmas” district, while others reported that it was inside a mosque in the same province.
Meanwhile, Moroccan websites quoted the head of the Horizontes Association of Moroccan Immigrants in the Canary Islands, Wali Honorary, as saying that the video was filmed last Saturday in a shelter for minors called Tendaya, in Plaza Tafira, in the diamond zone. .

The governor stated that the incident was due to the fact that the minors residing in the center were not allowed to leave due to a punishment, which led them to engage in a verbal altercation with the director of the center, which motivated the latter to contact to the policeman.
At the beginning of the video, a child is shown crying bitterly for another child on the ground, in the absence of conscience and possibly dead, before the policemen enter and begin brutally beating him and another group.
Users of social networks denounced the way in which the Spanish police treated Moroccan immigrants and requested the intervention of the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, Moroccan sources reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Spanish ambassador to Morocco, Ricardo Diez Hochleitner Rodríguez, and informed him through a senior official of his concern and complaint about the actions that took place in one of the centers of detention of minors. .
In this unofficial response, Morocco considered that special attention should be paid to minors, urging neighboring Spain to take measures that enable the protection of children.
