This week, Tunisian security services arrested 6 workers at the social welfare center known as “Sind” in Sidi Thabet city, Ariana governorate, on suspicion of verbal, physical and sexual assault on people with disabilities.
The Tunisian daily “Al-Sabah” said that the victims of these rapes, which amounted to rape and torture by ironing with smoking cigarettes, are residents “between the ages of 20 and 31”, in the social center they came to look for. the shelter and care they desperately need.
The newspaper noted that among those who were exposed to the victims, men and women, “the manipulation of the bodies of some of them and the torture of others” in an attack (…) on the custodians of a country with special needs ” .
Among the victims of these attacks, “a 23-year-old girl (…) with a mental disability” filed a complaint “that includes suspicions of rape, sexual harassment and assault with severe violence.” Another girl, “at the age of twenty (…) suffered from multiple disabilities (…) was raped several times.”
While the investigation in this case is progressing, the detainees denied the suspicions that surrounded them, and their colleagues from the institution protested a pause in which they demanded the Ministry of Social Affairs to protect their workers.
