A source from the Football Association clarified the difference between the cases of Mohamed El-Shennawi, Al-Ahly goalkeeper, and Ramadan Sobhi, Pyramids player, against the referee of the two teams’ matches against Al-Ahly Bank and Al -Ittihad of Alexandria.

The Football Association Competitions Committee decided to suspend Mohamed El-Shennawi for four games, for his unsportsmanlike behavior after laying his hand on the referee of his match against the National Bank, with a fine of 20 thousand pounds.

As for Ramadan Subhi, who committed the same incident, he was not suspended with suspension despite his expulsion at the end of the Al-Ittihad match, which was not the case with Al-Shennawi, who did not receive a yellow or red card.

Yalla Koura went to the Football Association to explain the two incidents and clarify the reasons for the punishment of Muhammad Al-Shennawi and the reason for his difference with Ramadan Sobhi, who escaped the most severe sanction and missed a match.

“In the Al-Shenawi incident, the match referee said the player grabbed him by the hand after the end of the match and objected to not counting a goal,” a source from the Football Association said, on condition of anonymity.

He added: “The Competition Committee classified the Al-Shennawi incident as non-sporting behavior and punished him with a four-game suspension and a fine of £ 20,000.”

The source concluded by saying: “Regarding Ramadan Subhi, the referee, Muhammad Al-Sabahi, did not mention that the player pulled him by the hand and informed us that he had shown the red card to the player’s face only as an objection.”
