Security sources revealed how 3 prisoners sentenced to life in prison escaped from Tanta General Prison in Gharbia Governorate, and explained that the defendants managed, within 3 months, to break through the prison walls and that they had deactivated surveillance cameras inside the prison.

Sources specified that the escape time ran from 2 a.m. until the dawn call to prayer, and they fled through the walls and roofs of the adjacent prison until they left the area.

The sources added that the defendants who escaped from the Tanta General Jail and who are sentenced to life imprisonment are charged in cases of murder and drug and arms trafficking.

Sources indicated that Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of the Interior, gave instructions to immediately investigate the director of Tanta General Prison and the director of prison investigations, as well as the services available during the specified shift for the time of escape.

On the other hand, the Gharbia Security Directorate is intensifying its efforts to arrest and prosecute the three life-sentenced prisoners who escaped from the Tanta General Prison.

Major General Muhammad Omran, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department in the Gharbia Governorate, decided to form an investigation team headed by Brigadier General Haitham Al-Kilani, Chief of the Investigations Directorate, and includes Major Tawfiq Shahwan, al Major Yusef Al-Jundi and Major Ahmed Al-Hajjar, heads of investigation of the Tanta Center and the second and second tranches of the defendants who quickly escaped from the Tanta Center and the second from the prison.
