Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, met with Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, where two reports were reviewed on what was circulated about the presence of shortages in the amounts of oxygen available at Zefta Hospitals in Gharbia Governorate and Husseinieh Central, Sharkia Governorate.

The minister said that committees have been assigned to go through the two mentioned hospitals. In order to know the current situation, reports have been prepared that include the position of the oxygen and the cases in which it is found in ventilators.

He added that with respect to the Zefta Hospital, when the oxygen tank passed on January 2, it was found that it was 99% full, and at 12 in the morning the tank contained 40% of its capacity, that is why it was filled according to what followed, and the station was launched with cylinders. During the filling of the oxygen tank, there was no defect in the system, and when passing the gas chamber it was found that there were 24 full cylinders connected to the oxygen network.

He noted that with regard to the two deaths, they were infected with the Corona virus and suffered from chronic diseases (pressure and diabetes), and it was also found that the intensive care devices are in good condition, and there are no failures or leaks.

Regarding the Al Hussainia Hospital in Sharkia Governorate, the Minister explained that in light of the report received from the Director of the Directorate, on Saturday, January 2, 2021, the number of occupied beds in the Al Hussainiya Hospital was 7 beds. of isolation, which is the maximum limit of the hospital’s capacity, along with 3 cardiac care beds. , Two internal care beds and 11 lactation rooms, as the examination showed the stability of work in the hospital.

The report also indicated that there were 500 liters in the oxygen tank at 7 pm on Saturday, and the tank was filled at 9:30 pm, to go to 5500 liters, and that the gas network is working in good condition, and that the hospital has a backup gas network connected to it with 24 cylinders, highlighting that there were 33 patients in the isolation department, they were supplied with oxygen through the same network, and no one was affected, apart from the presence of other departments that use the same gas network, so none of the patients present was affected, which confirms that there is no relationship between the deceased and the accident. The appearance of hypoxia.

The report revealed that the number of deaths in the Al-Husseiniya Hospital were 4 infected with the new Corona virus, two women and two men, their ages were as follows: (76-67, 64-44), a woman and a man they suffered from diabetes, and the causes of death were cardiac arrest, given the possibility of a pulmonary artery clot, and when reviewing the treatment of these cases, it was found that the treatment protocols agreed with these cases were followed.

During the meeting, the Minister of Health said that a daily report will be prepared for the Prime Minister on the supply of oxygen to all hospitals and supplier companies, and an electronic daily index will be prepared in this regard, with the aim of reassuring the availability of oxygen in all hospitals, and the minister also reviewed the position of oxygen availability. And the results of their meetings with the oxygen producing companies, highlighting that we currently have enough stocks, and the companies are increasing their production.
