The Referees Committee of the Egyptian Football Association admitted that the video referee made a mistake during the Enppi-Zamalek match, which was managed by Mohamed Al-Sabahi as sand referee, according to a source responsible for the committee.
Zamalek defeated Enppi with a score (1-2) in the match that brought the two teams together on Saturday night at Petrosport Stadium, on the fifth day of the Egyptian Premier League championship.
A source from the Referees Committee said, speaking to Laila Kora: “The video referee made a mistake in two cases during the Enppi and Zamalek match.”
The source declined to reveal the fact that Sobhi Al-Amrawi had suspended the video referee after reports claimed that he had been banned for a month from directing league matches.
The source emphasized: “We did not announce any sanction related to the rulers through the media. The matter is confidential.”
He concluded: “Even if there is a penalty for the ruling to correct errors in the future, we will not disclose them.”
Enppi football director Abdel Nasser Mohamed is reported to have confirmed in televised statements that the club would file a complaint with the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) for forgetting to award a penalty to his team against Zamalek.
