The great Egyptian writer and screenwriter, Waheed Hamed, died today at dawn, at the age of 77, as a result of a health crisis.

Egyptian websites reported that Hamed had suffered from lung problems with heart muscle weakness for some time, and that his deteriorating health was largely manifested by the enormous effort he put into his honor at the last session of the Festival of Cinema of Cairo, which concluded its activities in the middle of this month.

For her part, the Egyptian Minister of Culture, Inas Abdel Dayem, lamented the great writer and said that “the deceased was the best support for the creators, intellectuals and artists, and the owner of charges written in letters of light in the records of the history of the nation, as it is teacher, father and teacher. ” A whole generation was created with his own pen, characters that will remain immortal in the memory of Egyptian and Arab cinema, and I expressed my condolences to his family, friends and loved ones.
It should be noted that the late Wahid Hamed was honored at the 42nd session of the Cairo International Film Festival, whose activities recently ended, and won the Golden Pyramid Appreciation Award for Lifetime Achievement, an honor that pleased him and presented it to all those who helped and supported him early in his career.
