As the anniversary of the assassination of Qassem Soleimani approaches, the commander of the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Ismail Qaani, threatened during a closed session of the Iranian parliament, with revenge and the assassination of US President Donald Trump.

He also threatened to kill other American officials, including the Secretary of State and Defense and the head of the CIA.

The former commander of the Quds Force in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, Qassem Soleimani, is reported to have been killed in an American attack in early 2020.

During the session, Qaani said that they would avenge Qasem Soleimani, declining to elaborate.

The Iranian Quds Force commander added that the “main objective” of retaliating against Soleimani is the withdrawal of US forces from the region.

This comes as US CNN reported that President Trump is expected to return to Washington on Thursday and miss the New Year’s Eve party, amid mounting tension with Iran.

CNN also quoted a prominent US military official as saying that the current level of threat from Iran is the most worrying since Soleimani was assassinated last January.

“CNN” stated that US Defense Department “Pentagon” officials are still divided on the threat posed by the Iranian regime and the militias that are based in Iraq.

On Wednesday, Washington sent nuclear-capable B.52 bombers to the Middle East “in the latest show of force” with the aim of dissuading Tehran from attacking any US interest or person in the coming days, according to Pentagon officials.
