An official source from the Ministry of Health revealed that Egypt’s Medicines Authority had finished examining samples of the Chinese “Sinopharma” vaccine, of which the first shipment arrived in Egypt on December 10.

Dr. Khaled Mujahid, a media adviser to the Ministry of Health, explained the reason for the delay in vaccination procedures with the vaccine during the last period, saying that the Egyptian Medicines Authority obtained 55 random samples from the first batch of the vaccine. . For analysis in their own laboratories, in preparation for the issuance of an emergency use permit for the vaccine in Egypt.
Mujahid added, in statements to Masrawy, that the vaccination of the priority groups will begin in the next few days, after the approval of the Egyptian Medicines Authority, and the preparation of several vaccination sites in the governorates of the Republic.
And the Ministry of Health previously said that the Chinese vaccine has been shown to be 86% effective in preventing the Corona virus, 99% in producing antibodies against the virus and 100% in preventing access to moderate and severe cases. .
He also identified priorities for vaccinating health care workers, especially isolation, chest and fever hospitals, and then the most dangerous groups if they become infected, such as patients with tumors, kidney failure, pressure and diabetes.
Mujahid explained that the ministry did not delay in giving the vaccine to eligible groups and added: “We await the results of the analysis, fearing for the people, and we want to ensure 100% of the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine, and this is a procedure normal”.
He noted that the next batches of the vaccine that Egypt receives during the next period will be subject to the same procedures before being released to citizens, as the Drug Authority receives random packages for analysis before customs releases the shipment in full. . To ensure its safety and efficacy.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Hassani, Undersecretary of Health for Public Initiatives Affairs, explained that the ministry is currently working in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior to equip the vaccine distribution centers in the governorates, adding that the The ministry did not delay in injecting the citizens, but waited for the analyzes of the Egyptian Drug Authority.
Speaking to Masrawy, Hassani stressed that the vaccine is safe, and its results are very good, and priority groups must obtain it to protect them from infection by the virus.
The trials of the Chinese vaccine, in its third clinical phase, have been carried out in Egypt during the last two months with more than 3,000 volunteers.
Vaccine technology is based on injecting doses containing a weak or killed virus, which stimulates the body’s antibodies to the virus to resist it and form antibodies, and this weak virus poses no danger to those who inject it.
