Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, highlighted the need for regular studies and preparation for midterms, in accordance with the hybrid education system approved by the Supreme Council of Universities, while continuing to implement precautionary measures and prevention in all universities in accordance with the procedures approved by the Supreme Council of Universities.
During his presidency of the meeting of the Supreme Council of Universities held at Fayoum University, in the presence of the Minister of Education and Technical Education, Dr. Tariq Shawky, the Governor of Fayoum, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, the Secretary of the Council , Dr. Muhammad Latif, and the rectors of the universities, the minister stressed, on Saturday, the importance of following the university presidents directly in preparing the isolation of the universities. With emphasis on the importance of the availability of places to isolate children and the availability of strategic stocks of medicines to face the Coronavirus, as well as personal condoms for all medical teams and workers in university hospitals.
The minister pointed out the importance of the full readiness of all university hospitals to face all possible scenarios to face the epidemic spread of the Corona virus, and thanked the Supreme Council of University Hospitals for its decision to restart the isolation university hospitals at full capacity.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar also presented university presidents with the latest executive developments related to the establishment of new private universities.
For his part, the Minister of Education spoke about the knowledge bank, its origins and how the Egyptian researcher can benefit from this electronic library and its role in improving the status of scientific and academic research in Egyptian universities.
He also addressed the Ministry of Education’s plans to qualify the student and equip him with science and technology through the use of the latest scientific tools available, and set more than one standard to measure the educational abilities of students.
The board heard a presentation by the Egyptian Knowledge Bank on the e-learning management system and the board heard a presentation by MKCL on the electronic exam administration program.
The council approved the recommendations of the committee formed to develop curricula in Egyptian universities related to increasing population and increasing level of awareness and belonging among Egyptian university students. The council also decided to generalize the study of the German language for students of medical and engineering faculties at Egyptian universities.
In light of the book received from the Minister of Education, the Council decided not to require students holding foreign certificates equivalent to the Egyptian high school diploma to submit a sequence of studies attesting to the student’s spending for 12 years on education and to sit satisfied in this regard with the presentation of a certificate issued by the Ministry of Education indicating that the certificate obtained by the student is equivalent to the Certificate of General Secondary Education in Egypt.
The Council also decided to approve the list of distinguished foreign universities in the areas of pharmacy, human medicine, dentistry, engineering, technical studies, information systems, technology and literature. The equivalence of the certificates awarded by these universities to those awarded by Egyptian universities will be considered, provided that this decision applies to students who wish to study abroad with effect. From the next academic year 2021-2022.
The Council also approved the independence of the South Valley University branch in Hurghada, to become an independent university under the name “Hurghada University”, with legal measures taken in this regard.
