Books – Ashraf Jihad and Ahmed Gomaa:

A numerical comparison between the first 29 days of the first and second Corona waves in Egypt revealed that the daily injury rate in the second wave increased 42 times more than the daily injury rate in the first wave.

In addition to the indicators of “daily rate of injury in the first wave” and its counterpart in the second wave, Masrawy used the “daily rate of increase in the second wave”, in an attempt to calculate the increase and the differences in the differential between the two waves.

Masrawy calculated the daily rate of increase in the second wave by subtracting the number of injuries on the first day of the wave from the injuries on the recording day. In an effort to exclude the accumulation of daily injuries from the first wave, the daily increase rate indicator starts on the second wave from zero. Noting that the large increase in prevalence is due to the presence of active cases of infected people in the first wave, which helps the transmission and spread of the disease.

Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, Advisor to the President of the Republic for Health Affairs, announced the start of the second wave in Egypt on Thursday, November 26, that is, only 29 days ago.

The daily rate of infection with the coronavirus in Egypt increased 249.5% in just 29 days since the start of the second wave. At the start of the second wave, the daily rate of injuries reached 365 registered cases, but on the twenty-ninth day of the wave it increased to 911 cases, amid warnings from government officials and the Ministry of Health of exceeding 1,000 daily injuries recorded in days.

The second wave took only 29 days to exceed the daily casualty rate of 900, while the first wave saw the first daily injury rate above 900 after 103 days of its onset.

The daily death rate on Wednesday was 3.5 times higher than on the first day in the second wave. Deaths increased on the 29th day of the second wave to 42 deaths, while the deaths recorded on the first day of the wave on November 26 were 12 deaths.

The daily recovery rate increased, during the second wave, to reach 398 on its 29th yesterday, compared to 98 recoveries on the first day of the wave.

An official source from the Ministry of Health told Masrawy that the spread in the second wave of infection in Corona is faster than what we witnessed in the first wave, and we are in the “community spread” stage and hope not to reach the stage of “widespread community spread”, with a very large increase in the number of infections.

The source added that Corona’s symptoms in the second wave became “lighter” than the first wave, but sometimes cases deteriorate quickly and suddenly.

He explained that Corona infection is no longer limited to a specific group, and the rate of infection of children and young people with the virus has increased, and has even reached families.

This was announced two days ago by the Minister of Health, Hala Zayed, when she explained that the age group older than 50 years represents 55% of injuries, and that the 15-35 age groups represent 25%, while the injuries of the age groups 35 to 50 years. Join the high infection rates.

He said that despite the increase in the number of injuries, they are considered minor injuries compared to the first wave.
